2009 Latin America LPG Seminar
Monday, November 16, 2009 - Thursday, November 19, 2009

Welcome Letter

Purvin & Gertz is pleased to announce that the 15th annual Latin America LPG Seminar will convene this year at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami, Florida.  The seminar and its associated workshops will take place from Monday, November 16 through Thursday, November 19, 2009.   The main seminar will take place on November 17 and 18, while our optional workshops will be held on Monday, Wednesday afternoon and Thursday of the seminar week.

It’s been several years since we last held our Latin America LPG Seminar in Miami, thus we’re really looking forward to returning.  The Mandarin Oriental Miami is a 5-Star luxury hotel located on Brickell Key with a private beach, wonderful rooms, a Fitness Spa, a 1.3 mile walking path and excellent service.  We’ve been able to negotiate some excellent room rates, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the luxurious Mandarin Oriental lifestyle and comfort at affordable prices.

As we prepare for this year’s conference we do so with a sharply different global business climate in the energy industry.  Oil and LPG prices are sharply lower than 2008 average levels, LPG inventories have grown significantly, new-building has led to an over-supply in the LPG shipping industry, the much-anticipated rise in Middle East LPG production will capture headlines in the coming months, and more petrochemical companies are using LPG as feedstock.  Most importantly, the global recession raises concerns over LPG demand in all sectors.

Latin America LPG markets continue to struggle with issues related to government regulations, LPG pricing, economic conditions, competition from natural gas, LPG duties and taxation, Southern Cone natural gas shortages and more.  The global recession and financial market conditions raise questions over the status and timing of future LPG supply projects and expansions.  Still, our industry is showing signs of remarkable resiliency; and certain areas of Latin America have already begun to recover from the recession.  Nowhere is the recovery more obvious than in Brazil,  which was one of the last countries to falter during the recession and now appears to be one of the first to grow out of the recession.

There are many topics to discuss at this year’s seminar, and once again we will have an outstanding slate of speakers to cover the hottest topics and issues affecting the Latin America LPG industry today.  Speakers already booked for the seminar represent the LPG industries of the U.S., Mexico, Trinidad, Ecuador, El Salvador, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia.

Whether you are new to the industry or a seasoned industry veteran, we promise you’ll benefit from attending this important seminar.  We take pride in providing attendees a great educational experience, one that includes in-depth market analysis and coverage of the most important issues facing our great industry.  Most importantly, our seminar will give you the opportunity to meet LPG industry leaders and decision makers from 25 countries around the globe.  We look forward to seeing you in Miami and promise you’ll have a great seminar experience.
